Had a pretty decent sleep, pretty exhausted from the long drive. Got up early and went outside to take the cover off the golf cart...oh no...what a mess! The vinyl seats and backrests were covered with black dirt. Just about every part was dirty. Funny thing is that the cover did not seem to be dirty at all. It is just the big winds that get the dirt underneath.
Got out my Amazing squirt bottle...that is the name of the product and it is excellent. We take a bottle home with us every year and it is cheap.
Got the seats clean, and most of the dirt off the rest of the cart, will do a better job later.
Took it for a ride around the block and all is good including the batteries.
I am going to sell the cart this month if I can, it still works well with three year old batteries and new tires, but for us to be here only 6 weeks, it is all about trying to keep the batteries healthy when we are not here. We have to rely on someone to plug the charger in at least once a month. I have had some bad experiences with power in the past, so it is basically too much of a hassle. We would be better off renting a cart for a month.
After breakfast, Katie and I had to go shopping. We went to Costco first and got a few items. We got a jar of Dave's Famous pickles...Katie and I call them pickles with an attitude. We bring home a large jar every year.
Funny thing about Costco, in Canada they dumped American Express and made us get a Capital One Mastercard. Last year here they wouldn't let us use our American Express Card but said this year we would be able to use the Capital One. Nope not yet we can't. So it's cash or debit. Funny part is the card has my picture on the back, and I can use that card ANYWHERE except Costco.
We went to Lowe's and picked up some flowers for the front of the trailer. Then we went to Walmart for some groceries, and I picked up an antenna to try and get over the air television stations. I just wanted to try it.
Katie and I wanted to work out a bit this year, so we went to a gym we had been to two years ago and they gave us a month membership for $20 each. This year how much? $100 each for a month. FORGET IT! So off we went to Gold's Gym...$85 each..FORGET IT!...One more place is called Freedom Fitness $10 mth no contract, but ahhh $49 Sign up fee each. Not forget it yet as we haven't talked to them, we will see if we can get it for one $49 fee and $10 each. If we can we will likely take that if we like the facility.
When we got home, I hooked up my 60 mile antenna
The good thing about over the air channels besides being free is that the signal is not compressed so you get full HD.
I scanned and it picked up 33 channels. Pretty good right? Wrong. It would be great if we were fluent in Spanish as most of the channels are in Spanish. I got about 6 or 7 in English and a couple of duplicates. I got NBC, and CBS, but no ABC and no Fox. Got CW and two or three others but that is it. Not good enough, and so it will have to go back. Not much sense trying to get more with bigger and more expensive antennas. It is mostly because of the geographic location and just the availability of channels. It was a good experiment though.
Katie and I went over to Al and Bonnie's for a drink, then supper, watched the Jets game, then to bed to try and catch up on some missed sleep.
We are going to Mexico tomorrow afternoon to see our girls. So excited about that!
and so ends another great day in the Valley.
more later...
