Day 4 Sunday

We had our favorite good breakfast at the Casino and got on the road about 7:45.

It was a good driving day, except one portion which is two lane for abour 80 miles. This is usually not a problem as the highway is good, but there were two large semi trucks hauling the blades for wind turbines. These things are huge. They had a truck in front and back with flashing lights, so you couldn't get a chance to pass. We did get past one, but not the other one. At least they were driving the speed limit mostly, 65 mph.

After that all was good and the temperature kept rising until it got to 26 C the closer we got to Ft. Worth.

Gas still around $1.58 generally.

We got to the Best Western in Burleson around 5:25 as predicted by the GPS. It was really no problem getting through the major construction on the Ft. Worth bypass which runs for several miles and is not scheduled to be completed until 2017 or 18. I had planned this as we traveled on Sunday for this reason. I can only imagine the delays during the week or rush hour. Friends previously had a 15 minute delay.

We went to Babe's Chicken House for dinner. There is usually a 20 minute wait outside because it is so popular, but they have places to sit. We went there last year and really enjoyed it. There is no menu, you pick from four different chicken offerings which the server tells you about, and one Fried Catfish option. After you decide that, we decided on chicken strips, the waitress just goes away and brings you the unlimited sides. First is salad with the house dressing, then corn, biscuits, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy. The Chicken comes at the same time and the service is great. We enjoyed it just as much as last year.

This place is a licence to print money, It is large and always full. The lineups actually stop around 7:45, but by that time they have had several sittings, as it all moves so fast.

When we left I asked one of the girls about the fact that several of the waitresses sang last year, and she said that one of the girls would sing if I wanted. I said sure. So she grabbed the wireless mike, started the music and wandered through the whole restaurant singing. She was really good and an excellent way to end the night.

Hard to take good pictures due to the lighting, but this gives you some idea.

Katie tried to take a video of the waitress singing but it did not work with her tablet for some reason.

Then back to the Hotel for some rest and relaxation.

On to our mobile home tomorrow..around an 8 or 9 hour drive depending on traffic.

and so ends another great day on the way to the Valley.
